SEO stands for Search Engine Optimisation. It is the optimisation of a website in order to improve its rankings on the search engines such as Google, Yahoo or Bing. It involves many different elements to it to get it right, and there is no strict guide as to how it should be carried out. You may find that different web agencies have their own ways of implementing SEO and may differ on what does and does not work.

SEO can be a minefield and although, there are some basic elements that you can include if you are writing copy for your website for example. I would strongly recommend employing a specialist marketing agency to assist you if you are serious about getting your website found on the search engines. You do have to be careful as there are a few grey areas within SEO and if you do something wrong you could find that your whole site is excluded from the search engines completely.
